If your sea time for your upgrade started prior to March 24, 2014, you will test under the previous examination system. All of our current exam preparation material is designed for this system. If your sea time started after March 24, 2014, you will test under the new system. Also, in 2019 all mariners will test under the new system regardless of the date their sea time started.
We are currently putting test material together for the new system and are aiming for June of 2015 to have this license preparation completed. We will continue to offer software for both the new and the old system until 2019 at which time we will solely offer software for the new system. If you have further questions on how these changes affect your personal situation, please contact the National Maritime Center - (888) 427 – 5662.
